City Sprouts
http://citysprouts.org/programs/classroom-to-garden/
CitySprouts School Partnership Program is designed to build our partner schools capacity to integrate school gardens as an instructional resource for teachers, an effective and engaging means for food and health education for students, and as a unifying center to strengthen school communities and family involvement. The CitySprouts program opens the door to garden-based education for thousands of children each year. Children become more engaged in ways that are critical to their success in writing, reading, science, social studies, and math skills. They develop more respect for the environment and nature. The practice of tasting the food they’ve grown in the garden sets children on a path toward life-long healthy food choices.

North Bennett Street School-K-8 Programs
www.nbss.edu/about/partnerships
St. John School middle school students join NBSS once a week for woodworking and bookbinding classes that improve problem-solving, develop mathematical skills and increase self confidence. Students employ their individual creativity within the boundaries of precise, disciplined work and gain a better understanding how focused effort helps create high quality projects.
In January of 2018, NBSS and Donald McKay K-8 School launched a new trial partnership with the goal of using woodworking to improve both teacher and student learning in 6th grade math and science. Teachers use their experiences at NBSS to improve their ability to link the 6th grade math and science standards to hands-on, project-based learning activities that connect to real-world applications that go well beyond a math worksheet. Teachers are learning how to embed the science and math standards in highly engaging activities that foster student curiosity and will increase the intrinsic motivation of students to become self-directed explorers in mathematics and science.
